What a heating mat is
A heating mat is a heating cable with one cold lead, pre-fixed to a 50 cm wide mesh. It comes as a ready kit for a given area, from 1 to 15 m², usually at 150 W/m². The loop spacing is preset, so heat is even across the whole floor.
Where it is used
- bathrooms and toilets – the most popular use
- kitchens, hallways and entrances with tiles
- living rooms with stone or ceramic floors
- as comfort or primary heating in rooms up to about 4 m high
For terraces, balconies, rooms with higher ceilings or primary heating of a whole property we calculate the output room by room.
How we install it
- checking the base and calculating the free floor area (without bath, shower or units)
- measuring cable resistance and insulation before laying
- rolling the mat out on the cleaned concrete floor, turning it at the ends of the room
- placing the thermostat floor sensor between loops
- embedding the mat in tile adhesive and tiling – the floor rises by only a few millimetres
- test measurement, thermostat connection and commissioning once the adhesive has cured
Why a heating mat
- fast warm-up and a comfortable floor in a short time
- ideal for renovations – no new screed needed
- no radiators on the wall and no maintenance
- cable with an earthed protective braid, connected through an RCD
We always supply and install the mat with a thermostat and floor sensor. Not sure which system suits your floor? See the mat vs film vs cable comparison.
