FAQ
Electric underfloor heating, answered
How much does electric underfloor heating cost?
The price depends on the system (heating mat, infrared film or heating cable), the floor area, the floor covering and the thermostat. We calculate the heat output for every project and send a free quote – just tell us the area and the type of building.
How much electricity does underfloor heating use?
A 150 W/m² system on 10 m² has an output of 1.5 kW, but with a thermostat it runs about half of the time on average – roughly 0.75 kWh per hour of heating. Real consumption depends on insulation, the set temperature and your electricity tariff.
Can underfloor heating go under laminate and parquet?
Yes. Under laminate and parquet we install infrared heating film about 0.3 mm thick on an insulating underlay – no screed, no gluing, and the room is finished in one day.
Which system is best for a bathroom?
Under tiles we usually install a heating mat: the cable on a 50 cm wide mesh is embedded in the tile adhesive, so the floor rises by only a few millimetres. For new builds and large areas we use heating cable in the screed.
Is electric underfloor heating safe?
Yes. Heating cables have an earthed protective braid and the installation is connected through a residual current device. A thermostat with a floor sensor keeps the floor surface within the recommended range, up to about 25 °C.
Where do you install underfloor heating?
We are based in Budva and work along the whole coast and inland Montenegro: Budva, Kotor, Tivat, Herceg Novi, Bar, Ulcinj, Podgorica and Cetinje.
Do you also heat gutters, roofs and pipes?
Yes. Self-regulating heating cables protect gutters, roofs, ramps, stairs and pipes from ice and freezing, and for industry we design heat tracing for pipelines and tanks.
